South Carolina’s Lowcountry, once known for its magnificent plantations and agricultural contributions, today is celebrated for its rich cultural heritage, historic cities, natural environment, and robust tourism industry.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you’ll love living in the Lowcountry. Flanked to the East by the Atlantic Ocean and to the west by the Intracoastal Waterway, it is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Of course, fishing is a favorite pastime, whether it’s offshore trophy fishing, flounder gigging in the shallow waters of the inlet, or dropping a line in the waterway hoping to snag a striped bass or redfish to take home for dinner.

Hunting is another popular pastime in the Lowcountry. We have our fair share of ducks, deer, and turkeys. As the summer fades into the rearview, there’s just something about September 1 marking the official close of the summer tourism season, the beginning of hunting season, and the approach of autumn on the gridiron - where you’re either a Clemson Tiger or a South Carolina Gamecock. If you haven’t already,  you have to choose!

In addition to our beautiful beaches, you’ll enjoy our eclectic mix of restaurants and bistros, shops and boutiques, fun events, beautiful state parks, and other treasures such as Brookgreen Gardens. If you’ve never visited our area, we hope you do. You may find you want to stay.
