Chris Hollingsworth is the founding partner and president of JC Hollingsworth Co. Originally from Lancaster, SC, he decided to call Murrells Inlet home in 1999 after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Clemson University. Ever since, Chris has been working as a structural engineer – a career path which fits all of his criteria: applied physics, analysis, and problem solving with hands-on work during the construction process. When Chris Hollingsworth is not working, he is taking advantage of his close proximity to the beach and surfing any chance he gets. Quite the surfing enthusiast, he enjoys traveling to the best spots and teaching beginners his beloved sport. If the waves are flat, don’t worry about Chris… you’ll find him mountain biking Myrtle Beach’s 7.2-mile trail, the “Hulk,” until the swell picks up again.
Thomas Hanna is our lead production engineer and firm partner with a degree from the University of South Carolina. Drawn to engineering from an early age, he has always been interested in designing and building things with a knack for solving any technical problems. Originally from Johnsonville, SC, Thomas and his wife moved to Murrells Inlet years ago, and they have enjoyed the inlet lifestyle with all its recreational activities. Beyond his engineering prowess, Thomas is a man of many skills; he is currently restoring an old Jeep with his father and is a BBQ master, participating in competitions all across South Carolina. Though, you’ll usually catch him spending time with his family outdoors either boating on the river, going to the beach, hunting, or fishing.
Meggan Flint is really so much more than an office manager; she’s our Jill-of-all-trades and the best Dog Aunt in the office. Meggan has the beautiful philosophy that life is her ongoing education, and that makes her a perfect fit for the unique challenge of managing a structural engineering team. Born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, she relocated here in 2018 and is happy to be so close to the coast and all its events. Meggan fills her spare time with long days at the beach, yoga, and listening to live music, but really above all else, her favorite pastime is being with her family.
As someone always ready to dive into complex situations and make sense of them, it is no surprise that Mason Benton is a skilled structural design engineer for JC Hollingsworth Co. Born in Charleston, SC and raised in Bonneau, Mason is also a Clemson graduate with a BS in Civil Engineering and a focus on structures. After his studies, he too moved to Myrtle Beach and has been enjoying the close proximity to the beach as well as all the local activities offered in the Lowcountry. His spare time is usually filled with Martial Arts training, but if he’s not at work or the gym, Mason can be found crushing enemies in Call of Duty.
Working remotely out of West Virginia, Ryan Howie is our ever-present draftsman. Born and raised in Charleston, WV, he graduated from BridgeValley Community & Technical College in 2016 with his Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering. Ryan returned home after living at the beach to be closer to his family and friends but remained on the team to keep pursuing his passion for creating plans and seeing those ideas come to fruition. Yet as passionate as he is about being a draftsman, Ryan has just as much when it comes to playing music. He enjoys the challenge of learning difficult pieces and the accompanying feeling of success, and he swears it’s a stress reliever.
With an enthusiasm for problem solving, Joshua Vacaro has been a great addition to the JC Hollingsworth team as our structural design apprentice. Originally from Manila, Joshua obtained his degree from the University of the East in the Philippines and was drawn to the structural design field through his love of solving math and engineering problems. Outside of the office, he enjoys some downtime playing games online or perfecting his table tennis techniques.
